The research activity aimed to analyse the impact of territorial transport factors on individual levels of education and health in Italy, with the objective of contributing to the policy debate on equitable and sustainable territorial development. Drawing on the theoretical framework of the Capability Approach, the study has highlighted the critical role of both economic and physical accessibility to transport services in the conversion of resources into effective capabilities and, more broadly, in fostering sustainable human development at the local level. The research has also examined how individual subjective factors, such as perceptions of mobility quality, can significantly influence personal well-being. These findings were presented in the paper “Regional and Personal Educational and Occupational Inequalities for Transport Poverty: A Capability Approach Analysis for Italy” at the Human Development & Capability Association Annual Conference 2025 (Bradford, United Kingdom, 1–5 September 2025), and in the paper “Educational and Occupational Inequalities for Transport Poverty: A Capability Approach Analysis” at the European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy (EAEPE) Annual Conference 2025, “The Janus Face of AI: Opportunities and Threats” (Athens, Greece, 24–26 September 2025). Finally, the research results were published in the following scientific article: Grazini, C., & Guarini, G. (2025). Human Development and Transport Poverty: A Capability Approach Analysis for Italy.
